about

"One Last Year is the sophomore release of Minneapolis avant-industrial duo Yellow Bulb., a melodically droney, shoegaze-inspired set that builds on the heavy industrial noise rock foundation of their debut Data Reject. The album features appearances by David Mansfield (Stranded), Sara Storm (Nail Club) and Jake Cregger (Multicult, TRIAC), and was first pressed on cassette in the UK on Industrial Coast after the original digital release on Bandcamp. Yellow Bulb. has been recording music together since early 2020.

The morose material came together in the particularly cold winter coming into 2021, stripping down the harsh intensity of their original sound to reveal a more minimalist inclination. The duo continued to work remotely, deconstructing their songwriting process even further, which ultimately gave birth to the ashen, dead sounding sophomore set. The album is more avant-garde than its predecessor, while still maintaining its strange dark spirit, juxtaposing lurching rock dirges with full on abstract electronics and spoken word pieces. One Last Year is the product of addled minds stewing in unreality and isolation, growing up a little bit but feeling much older in the process."
